What did working with Emily do for you? How did it help you?
Working with Emily provided me with new strategies for practicing self-care as well as the encouragement necessary to attempt to use them. In a world that focuses on “old school” strategies for the purposes of insurance billing, it was hard for me to shift my mindset and be open to manifestation, energy-based approaches, and quantum leaping. I finally allowed myself to try something new and I am so thrilled that I did. I have noticed many small shifts in my thinking since finishing the program! This is only the beginning of my journey and I am very excited to see where this takes me! ~CLH
Working with Emily has given me a venue to reflect and share what it truly feels like to be me. She is open, caring, and very easy to talk with. I am now much more in touch with my body, and prioritize listening to it over listening to my thoughts. I feel more centered and confident I can respond to whatever my body is feeling at any given time. ~KS
I learned so much about embodiment and how to really practice “letting go” through the breath and movement based exercises. I found the breathwork to be incredibly powerful and transformative. Emily was a kind, knowledgeable, compassionate guide. I look forward to continuing our work together.~MA
How is your life/body/wellness different after working with Emily? What changes have you noticed in yourself?
My wellness is different now as I’ve created a morning routine, and even a short afternoon routine. Throughout the day I am much more in my body and much less in my head. I’ve noticed more calmness, and more confidence that I can do anything if I just try! ~CLH
I have gained perspective about challenges that I am facing in my personal life and at work. I used to get caught up in the “how” which would lead to self-defeating thoughts that sabotaged my efforts to change. Now I focus on “feeling” the changes I want to make and try to stay out of my head. I listen to my body more than ever before. ~MA
I notice that I don’t “sweat the small stuff” as much as I used to. ~CLH
What would you tell someone who is considering signing up for Social Worker Self Care Accelerator but is “on the fence”?
Absolutely invest in yourself, you are worth it! This program, along with Emily’s guidance, teaches ways to take care of and “let go” of things that are no longer serving you. These are skills that should be taught to all social workers. Enjoy!! ~MA
Give it a try! Emily is a fantastic coach, knowledgeable, energetic, and encouraging. There are a variety of approaches taught and it is so important to try new ideas. Let’s face it, if our self-care routine was working we would not be looking for a program like this. It is time to try something new!! ~CLH
That Emily meets you where you are at, and guides you to take care of yourself in your own individual way. I would tell them it’s truly an investment in their future and a way to operate in the world differently. ~KS
What did you learn in the program? What is your biggest take-away?
As a clinical social worker and supervisor of over 15 years, I knew that I was storing trauma in my body but was not sure how to access and release it. I find the movement and breathwork practices to be the most beneficial coping skill I have learned. I now unapologetically schedule time to engage in much needed self compassion/self care rituals. ~MA
I learned to listen to my body and get out of my head! I am certainly working on self-compassion although this is probably the area that presents the biggest challenge for me. My biggest takeaway has to be Quantum Leaping, something I never thought I would embrace. I love that I am not focused on the “how” in this process as the “how” always trips me up. ~CLH
I truly learned what embodiment means, and how valuable it is for anyone, especially in a helping profession. I learned about shaking meditation, breathwork, and yoga for mental wellness as opposed to a perfectly toned body. I also learned the value of paying attention to my body first when I’m feeling off. ~KS
