Breathwork

What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is the active form of consciously working your breath to bypass the mind and enter a different state of awareness. The practice gives the brain’s executive functioning something to focus on, so you can bypass the mental level of consciousness and drop into a deeper state of consciousness, where healing, spirit, and love reside.

Breathwork is a practice of allowing your systems to see a different perspective where you feel deeply connected to your body and understand and experience the intelligence contained within your systems. Breathwork is a way to heal, release, and transform.

WHY IS BREATHWORK IMPORTANT?

By engaging in your breath in a rhythmic pattern, breathwork allows you to get out of your mind and get into your body. When you are in your body you are feeling. When you are feeling, you are healing.

Living in an age where we’re busier than ever and because we’re disconnected from our bodies, it’s easy for us to become buried in feelings and emotions that we don’t know how to process. For many of us, the norm is being constantly stressed, anxious, worried, and overwhelmed. Breathwork allows us to be still, be with ourselves, and breathe and feel through our experiences.

Here are the most common benefits of breathwork:

  • Immediate stress reduction & anxiety relief.
  • Connect with your emotions & change your response to them.
  • Gives you access to your higher power.
  • Reduces toxins in your body & provides an energetic release.
  • More energy & mental clarity.
  • Deepens your relationship to your body.
  • Release trauma that has been stuck in your system for years.
  • Better access your intuition, higher self, and source.

A meditative session is when a breath pattern is being used for more than 8 minutes. Meditative sessions have the intent to access altered states of consciousness, which promote the deepest self-healing and personal transformation. In a meditative session the breather can move through and release emotionality that is stuck.

How to Prepare for Your Meditative Session

The session will be for ONE HOUR. Please come with an intention. For example, maybe there is something you would like to let go of. Or maybe something you would like to welcome into your life- gratitude, peace, calm, love.

Make sure you have:

  • an empty stomach
  • headphones
  • eye mask/eye covering (optional)
  • journal & pen
  • set up your space so you can lay down and be comfortable
  • your computer or phone set up in a way that I can see your whole body while you are breathing

Emily’s voice, demeanor and tone were very calming and warm. The music she used went well with the pace of the breath pattern. Emily seemed so grounded and connected to me throughout the practice. She encouraged me to do what felt right for me if her cues didn’t align with what I was feeling, and I appreciated that opportunity.
